For those new to this interwebotron thing there's this website called YouTube that's famous for having video clips. One clip was a grainy video of a live performance by a guy looking very much like me. With a fuller beard and a heap of talent Mat Weddle was belting out a folksy acoustic version of "Hey Ya". ("Hey Ya" is a 2003 number-one single recorded by André 3000 of the hip-hop duo OutKast.) It's awesome and today they announced the new album is on iTunes. Here is my review:
My iTunes review:
From a grainy video a friend sent me I was exposed the raw talent of Mat Weddle. Taking pop culture and making it your own and then saying to the world “This is who we are!” is a bold move not many bands would do. Most would toil playing simple sound-a-like covers but with this one song Obadiah Parker has caught the attention of the masses. I bought the album right after the announcement hit my mailbox and it is everything I have come to expect from this rising star. Mat, Jessie, and Daniel inspire and entertain with power, talent, and soul. I cannot say enough about this wonderful album other than I can’t wait to see what’s next!
You simply MUST hear this song and then the album and then you can join me begging for a tour date...
