My first post of the new year could be about the Gator Bowl, or Boise State, or wrong airplane reservations or anything but I have chosen this:
I have loved the song Simple Gifts since I first heard the Pride of West Virginia, the Mountaineer Marching Band play it but over the weekend I learned there is a version by the great Yo-Yo-Ma and wonderfully sung words by I suspect Allison Krauss.
Here are the lyrics and link to the performance: http://www.ice750.net/simplegifts.wma

Tis a gift to be simple
Tis the gift to be free
Tis the gift to come down where you want to be
And when we find ourselves in the place just right
Twill be in the valley of love and delight
When true simplicity is gained
To bow and to bend we will not be ashamed
To turn, turn, will be our delight
‘till by turning, turning we come round right
And when we find ourselves in the place just right
Twill be in the valley of love and delight
When true simplicity is gained
To bow and to bend we will not be ashamed
To turn, turn, will be our delight
‘till by turning, turning we come round right
